Upgrade terms and warranty
Covers the RTX 4090 48GB and RTX 4080 SUPER 32GB upgrade services.
TL;DR
- We rebuild your card with doubled memory; the modification is permanent.
- If diagnosis shows your card cannot take the upgrade, you pay nothing.
- 90 days of warranty cover our work and the memory we fit; your original core and modules stay your risk.
- Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are never reduced by these terms.
1The service
The upgrade service consists of two things: replacement of the card's circuit board with a board built for double the memory, and fitting of memory modules alongside your originals. The card runs at stock behaviour.
The modification is permanent and irreversible. The card cannot be returned to its original configuration after the work is complete.
2Performance representation
We represent one thing: your card gains doubled memory capacity at stock behaviour. Clocks, power limits, and bandwidth remain at stock. We make no representation beyond this.
Any benchmarks, comparisons, or workload figures we publish are informational only and do not form part of these terms.
3Driver and third-party risk
Driver updates, firmware or software changes, and feature deprecation by third parties are outside our control. These events are excluded from our warranty, and no remedy arises from them under these terms.
4Inherent procedure risk
Board-level rework carries inherent risk. We mitigate that risk through pre-build diagnosis of the card, controlled thermal profiles during the rework, and the testing every card must pass before it ships. Where loss arises despite this, our liability is limited as set out in clause 6.
You can read a plain-language breakdown of every procedure risk and how we address it on the upgrade risks page.
5Warranty
A warranty is our promise to put things right at no cost to you, for a set period, for the items listed in the matrix below. If a covered fault appears within 90 days of receiving your card, contact us first: we assess it against your signed test report, and where the claim is valid we repair or replace the affected part and cover the cost of doing so. A valid claim never costs you for the work.
Our warranty runs for 90 days from the date you receive the card. It covers our rework and the memory modules we fit. Your original GPU core and your original memory modules are not covered: they are your silicon, transplanted, and any fault in them is not something our work caused.
The signed test report shipped with your card records its condition and measured results at completion, and is the baseline against which any warranty claim is assessed. The full coverage matrix follows.

6Liability cap
Our total liability in connection with the upgrade is limited to the sums you have paid us for it.
The rework carries the inherent risk described in clause 4, which you accept when you book. If your card is damaged through that inherent risk despite our mitigations, your remedy is a full refund of everything you have paid us for the upgrade, and the card is returned to you. The card's market value is not additionally compensated.
We are not liable for consequential losses, including lost profit, lost data, or downtime.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability where the law does not permit it to be limited or excluded, including liability for damage caused by our negligence.
7Resale notice
The upgraded card is yours to sell. When reselling, you agree to describe the card accurately as a modified card.
8Business buyers
Where the upgrade is purchased in the course of business, the buyer confirms that the purchase is made with a full understanding of the nature of the modification described in these terms.
9Deposits
Your quote is split into parts and our work. On acceptance you pay a deposit equal to the parts portion, which buys the board and memory modules for your build. The balance, for our work, is paid only after your card passes the full test protocol, before it ships back.
The deposit is refundable in full if pre-build diagnosis shows your card cannot take the upgrade: no parts are committed, the card is returned as received, and there is nothing to pay. Once the board and modules are committed to your build, the deposit is no longer refundable, because it has bought your parts. This does not affect your remedy under clause 6.
For multi-card orders, the £500 reservation deposit works the same way and is applied in full to the final invoice.
10Shipping
Cover figures are shown in pounds next to every shipping option at the point of booking. Royal Mail and other carriers exclude internal damage to electronics from their cover on any service; where transit damage is fixable, we repair it as part of your build at no extra charge.
Royal Mail's own cover has a £2,500 ceiling. Because a finished upgraded card is often worth more than that, we insure the return shipment separately, at our cost, so the card travelling back to you is covered to its value.
The shipping policy in our main Policies and Terms applies to all upgrade shipments.
